Del Rosa plays an active role in the community. In our down time, we sometimes get invited out to talk to elementary kids. During 2009, Del Rosa was fortunate enough to be able to visit two schools; Davidson Elementary in San Bernardino and Mentone Elementary in Mentone.

This class of Fifth graders was reading about some of the work that Hotshots do. And what better way to explain it than bringing out a full Hotshots Crew to talk about the work and to give the kids a hands-on experience with some of the equipment. So hands-on, that the Crew almost got kicked out of the school for letting the kids play with the lights and sirens on the Crew Carreirs!

.

In Mentone, the four classes of the Second Grade all got to take time out of class to learn about some of the work that firefighters did around the recent, local Pendleton/Crafton Fire. Once again, the winter-mode Crew gave the kids' a quick tour (no lights and sirens this time) of the Crew Carrier and equipment.
